Julie's brief was simple. Create a calm, elegant area for everyday living that still felt open to the garden. She also wanted privacy from the street and a touch of pattern to lift the look of the home.
We paired a Tasman motorised freestanding louvre roof pergola with decorative aluminium panels on three sides, all finished in white to match the house. The result is a bright outdoor room that looks built in, not added on.
What we built
-
Model Tasman motorised louvre roof
-
Structure Freestanding, set out from the main eaves to create a true second zone
-
Finish White powder coated aluminium
-
Screens Laser cut decorative panels for privacy and soft shade
The clean square frame mirrors the lines of the home. The laser cut panels add texture without bulk, breaking wind and glare while keeping views to the garden.
How it works day to day
-
Sun control Louvres tilt to invite morning light, then close for high noon.
-
Rain cover When showers pass through, the roof shuts at the touch of a button so furniture stays dry and the space remains in use.
-
Privacy and comfort The patterned panels filter sightlines and breeze, making the terrace feel settled and comfortable without feeling boxed in.
-
Evening use The white ceiling reflects ambient light so the area stays bright and welcoming after sunset.

Builder friendly, owner approved
Julie's builder handled the install and was impressed by the fit and finish. In Julie's words:
"Our builder installed the Tasman and decorative panels and it’s been worth waiting for. We love it and our builder reckons it’s so good he wants one!"
That kind of feedback tells you two things. The system goes together cleanly, and once it is up, people immediately see the value.
Why this design works here
-
One calm material palette White frame, white roof, white panels. The garden becomes the colour.
-
Pattern with a purpose The panels are not just decorative. They add privacy, soften wind, and cast gentle shade across the paving.
-
A true room outdoors Freestanding placement defines the space and makes it feel like an extra living area rather than a covered walkway.
Is this approach right for you
Choose this style if you want a space that feels airy and finished at the same time. It suits single level homes, paved terraces, and gardens where privacy and softness matter as much as weather control.
If you have a patio that looks good but goes unused at peak sun or when light rain arrives, a Tasman with decorative panels can change that. Share your dimensions and a photo of the area and we will map out sizes, panel options, and a clear price range so you can plan with confidence.
